As we started to grow and expand here in Somex one of the key pain points to emerge was around procurement and supply chain management. Larger and more numerous projects demanded more detailed planning & procurement and the systems that we had historically employed were no longer up to the task. During our infancy & growth phase, we like many other companies relied upon MS Excel & MS word for our planning and PO placement. These were not integrated into our accounting package and a lot of the data was dispersed over various spreadsheets, not always up to date and in many cases, a lot of valuable information was in people's heads. The system was inefficient and needed review. At that point, I contacted Mike Daly and asked him to review our current process, recommend improvements and help implement the changes required to advance our supply chain management process. Mike completed the task outlined in a very timely & concise manner. His methodology is very much hands-on, whereby he initially spent some time on site, clearly identifying the "old methodology" and what changes need to be implemented. He spoke to all the users of the system (a key to success in my opinion) and defined a solution for our company which involved bringing our bills of material and procurement onto a common database with our accounting system. Mike helped oversee the transition, which was difficult at times but never waivered from the end goal. Today I am happy to say we have a much more robust and centralised system for purchasing and material management and the solution is correctly sized for our company. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mike and look forward to working with him again in the future.
